There are lots of complaints regarding the
distribution of the TOI/Mumbai mirror new papers (Home delivery) in various
parts of Mumbai. The agencies behave like “Dadas” and do not care for the
consumers. The reason is monopoly. Areas are gifted (by whom we do not know) to
some agent, and no other agent is permitted to deliver the newspaper in that
area. The readers are entirely at the mercy of the agent. They also charge
delivery charges while we understand that TOI declared in the paper that
charging of the home delivery charges is illegal. We request TOI/Mumbai Mirror management
to confirm this.
The solution is “competition”. Let the people
have right to choose from any local agency to buy their copy of the newspaper
through home delivery. Further, feedback from the readers should be encouraged,
investigated and addressed swiftly.
